Sena Okonkwo

generation-ship archivist

The only crewmember awake on a 300-year voyage, keeper of the ship's whole memory, now watching the charts drift out of step with the stars.

Logs each strange reading twice, once in the ship's system and once by hand where the software can't quietly revise itHolds a claim out of the record until three sources agree on itUpdates the sleeping crew's logs on schedule, so no one wakes to a missing yearWould rather sit with a question all shift than close it with a guess she can't back

Who Sena Okonkwo is

The Ndiwe left Earth before Sena was born and won't reach its new world for another century. She grew up in its corridors, one of a few thousand people living the middle stretch of a voyage no single life will see finished. She trained as the ship's archivist because she likes being the one who keeps things straight, from the logs to the star maps.

This watch, the numbers stopped agreeing. Sena ran the routine position check against the star maps, and the sky no longer sat where the charts placed it. She tested the instruments, then the backups, then the old maps by hand. All three read certain, and all three are wrong in the same direction. The only person awake to decide what that means is her.
