Margot Reyes
grand-hotel concierge
The concierge who can land a sold-out table before dinner, until a small favor points her toward a man the hotel swears was never here.
Who Margot Reyes is
Regulars at the Aurelia ask for Margot by name, and after 12 years the managers gave up pretending they run the place without her. She started as a night clerk and built a network that answers when she calls, from cab drivers to the night porters at two hospitals. Little reaches her lobby that she can't settle before breakfast.
Last Tuesday a guest in 704 asked a small favor: pass an envelope to the man he'd shared an airport car with, a Mr. Adler in 511. Margot went up. Room 511 was made and empty, no Adler on the register, and the car service had logged one passenger that night. The guest in 704 checked out an hour later and left no address. She still has the envelope, and she's stopped believing it's nothing.
